Business Development : Vincent Poncin introduces you is team

What are your day-to-day roles and responsibilities? Who are your fellow team members?

My number one task is to coach and guide a team of consultants looking for new customers in Luxembourg. My other task is to coordinate international contracts for customers doing business in Luxembourg and elsewhere.

When I joined the team, my main objective was to meet with as many operators as possible who were doing business in the chain of services related to mobility: companies seeking new mobility solutions, partnering garages and even service providers operating in connection with leasing.

Thanks to a team consisting of Jérémie Fatrez, Sabrina Duhaut and Cherryl Wollscheid, we were able to meet with a number of prospects who have now become our customers. If we have achieved our objectives, it’s mostly the result of the work carried out by a very energetic team where everyone, in their own way and using their specific strengths, contributes to delivering results. Léopold Turlot and Quentin Thomas complete this team by dedicating their extensive expertise and know-how to completing offers and recommending the best options to our customers and prospects.

After a year at ALD Automotive as Business Development Manager, what lessons have you learned from the experience?

After several months, our efforts began paying off and the results are there for the world to see. We worked on several projects. And today, our role goes beyond that of a mere provider of leasing solutions. In fact, ALD Automotive is positioned as the mobility partner expected by companies in Luxembourg.

Tomorrow’s major challenge is about being able to offer multi-modal mobility services integrated into employees’ pay packages. In order to be ready with the right solutions and to be seen as a unique and essential partner for covering all the needs in this area, we have to start thinking about it now.

How is business mobility evolving in Luxembourg? How is ALD Automotive reacting to these evolutions?

Mobility needs are increasingly in demand. In Luxembourg, getting from Point A to Point B is harder because every which way you turn, there is a traffic jam, particularly during rush hour, and employees are conscientious about their own needs and priorities. Whether they are residents or people who cross the border every day, they bring not only their own interests but their own values. Between non-motorised forms of movement, green mobility, social and environmental responsibility, convenient transport options and travel time, we must be ready to offer mobility à la carte and tailored to the needs of each individual: bicycle, public transport cards, and there’s still a place for the car.

The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is also a unique market. You have to understand it in a specific way. Broadening your network using a local approach is very important.

To succeed on this market, ALD Automotive has a major asset: a locally-based head office. Decisions are taken faster and are part of a local market strategy. The business’s human capital also makes an important contribution to this success: willingness, team spirit and the involvement of the employees are the pillars.

What are your plans for 2018?

Competition in the market is very stiff. With a new conception of mobility, the market is seeing a series of new operators and new opportunities emerge. Today’s rivals will not necessarily be tomorrow’s rivals. We intend to present ourselves as a forerunner and leader in this new age of mobility.

In spite of new forms of mobility, we are aware that leasing will still remain the largest share of our business for many years to come. We will continue to develop our offering and advisory services in fleet management, vehicle selection and automotive tax treatment by integrating a socially and environmentally responsible approach.

ALD Automotive is a business on a human scale, and this is a key asset for integrating large-scale strategic projects.

On a more personal level, I’m now a proud father for the second time: a baby girl. I hope that 2018 will be full of nice surprises!

In conclusion, what is your management vision?

I am a firm believer in letting everyone contribute what they do best to help the team achieve success and deliver results. By working collaboratively, each individual can contribute real added value. A manager is an orchestra conductor and a coach. I want to lend my personal and professional expertise to my team with a permanent desire to provide support and a presence in the field.
