CAR-SHARING AS A CONCEPT
Car-sharing is a form of vehicle leasing. It offers users an opportunity to share one or more vehicles without actually owning them. Users may reserve an “à la cart” vehicle for their use.
Companies face many mobility challenges. They must reduce their travel, fuel, and parking costs, lower their environmental impact, and remain attractive and competitive on the job market, in order to retain their current employees and attract new ones. Managing these three objectives will keep most companies busy in the coming years.

CAR-SHARING: PEOPLE HAVE HEARD OF IT BUT DON’T USE IT ENOUGH!
Car-sharing is widely known as a concept but is still underused, for various reasons:
SO, WHAT’S THE POINT OF CAR SHARING?
“In Luxembourg, there would be no point in wanting to completely ban private cars, but we want to make car-sharing more attractive than car ownership for those driving less than 20,000 kilometres annually”, said Sam Tanson, Minister of Culture and Lodging.
Car-sharing’s value is in making cars available to people only when they need one. In fact, almost 95% of the time most vehicles sit unused at home or work. This works out to 22 hours per day.
Car-sharing also helps reduce traffic, emissions and crowding in urban carparks. One shared car can replace an estimated nine individual cars. Combining car-sharing with public transport is also an environmentally responsible act. Over the long term, this can save you time and money, especially as public transport will be free of charge by March 2020.
Financially speaking, car-sharing happens to be more economical, as leasing saves you the initial investment for a vehicle. Moreover, car sharing optimises mobility costs and offers many advantages, such as lower parking costs, optimised use of the pool vehicle, less need to find a parking space, and the possibility of rebilling private use and other management costs. Fuel savings can also be achieved with electric cars, which are more suited to low-mileage use.
